The tailor's bastion at Sighisoara still shows bullet holes gained during the last seige, in the 1700's. A section of the wall has been restored alongside, showing the sort of position manned by most of the defenders. These massive fortifications began to be developed in the aftermath of the Mongol invasion of 1241, and defended Sighisoara for some five hundred years.
