Luke seems to be changing daily, growing taller and beginning to develop a slowly spreading new chocolate-coloured coat. Here he is pictured standing next to 5' 5" Danielle, showing just how big he has grown in three months. His nose shows the start of his new colour, whilst his blaze is pretty as ever. I shall miss his cute standing-up mane when it grows out.
Claws the cat and Balanca the dog joined Luke in the paddock. The animals here pretty well all get along well, and these three were no exception. Claws even rolled onto his back in front of Luke, inviting the foal to investigate. It seems amazing that a small cat will invite another creature many times larger to come across and play. Luke, fortunately, is gentle and curious. Claws puts rather a lot of trust in Balanca too. Still, when it comes to dogs, Claws the cat is well named. The dogs know this.
Anyway, I'm back out on trail rides from the start of next week, away riding Monday to Friday until sometime in September. There are many and diverse tasks involved in running this business, as Danielle and I well know. Management, building repairs, carpentry, welding, driving, negotiating, etc are all good and useful, and interesting enough in small doses, however it is a great pleasure to get out riding again through the summer. I have the feeling that time is flying so fast that, if I'm not careful, next time I look out the window the leaves will be falling. Next time after that, there will be snow. I really do need to get out and ride.
I'd like to get Danielle out riding too. She does so much work in the house and office, so diligently. Danielle really deserves to come out and enjoy riding through the wonderful landscape that stretches all around here. Something tells me that she will get on well with kind, gentle Pintea who will surely look after her out on the trail.
What lovely photos - I look forward so to reading your posts; they take me away to such a wonderful place which I hope some day to be able to visit!
