Hearing a complaint about the cold, someone rightly commented: "so, you want the rain and wind instead?" This point was well made. The crisp chilly weather has departed, to be replaced by precipitation and squalls.
I walked to the station this morning wearing broad-brimmed hat and long black stockman's coat, looking like Van Helsing (but minus the monsters and gadgets!) Riding gear can be so useful even away from horses. No doubt the carriage smelled like a barn inside!
Here is a last nostalgic view of the sharp clean dry if frigid New Year holiday weather. It did make for atmospheric photos.
Looks just as cold and miserable as it is here. It does make for pretty pictures though.

GHM: I try to look on the positive side. However some warmth and sun would be welcome!

I really enjoyed the glistening beauty of the frosty trees - but I'm glad it has warmed up. I really don't want to go out when it is so cold, and certainly don't feel like riding. If ever you do decide to stay on the train till Cardiff, I'd be delighted to meet you.
