i wish so much that baasha would eat his salt. he has three types but rarely licks them: ( i sprinkle table salt on his dinners.

We have a brand called "Himalayan salt" (it's an orange colour and is supposed to come from those mountains) which D loves. The other horses are very keen on it too. D doesn't touch the other brands. (Typically Himalayan is the most expensive. But it comes from a reputable firm. I expect that it IS good.)

I see from the old Cavalry Manual that a tablespoon of salt in the feed daily has the same effect. So you have been doing the right thing.


I just put 1 Tbsp a.m. and p.m. in their supplements to be mixed with feed. When I've used salt blocks they just end up melting in the rain. :(
