Keechy

Tom Bombadill is one of my faves from the book too. In tune with his surroundings, able to love deeply, living a life of freedom and yet taking responsibility when needed, living in a way that means he can thrive and be happy. I should be so lucky. :)

I think those early parts of the adventures eased the hobbits more gently into their new life than was seen in the movies. It was more The Hobbit-y, with a bit of danger then alright again. It showed them they could survive some trouble and be ok, which I think helped them later. I was sad they left it out, but understood why they did too. It was a definite detour. :)
