Maybe a little white line disease in there from the flare not being taken off. I'm dealing with that on the mare I bought back in February.


That may well be the case, Shirley. The trimmer hasn't been keen to remove the flare. So, in the end, it broke off. I wonder to what degree that abscess was to blame. It seems a common thing with trimmers here that they want to "leave everything natural" even if deformed. Whereas most farriers want feet to look like they appear in an (old) textbook.
